DID YOU KNOW...
That in order to have a true friendship you must be able to have 100 percent honesty within it? It is funny because most of the time we seem to hide our true feelings from those we love and, yes, we even withhold them from ourselves. We hold back many of our thoughts thinking that we will lose the love of a friend, spouse or family member.
What if we could have a true 100 percent honest relationship with someone? Would they go for it? Would they speak their mind without fear of losing the love of the other? To accept ourselves and others I think that we must be able to accept the truth of why we do what we do. How would you approach the issue with someone that you really want to have in your life, but want to be able to be truthful in speaking of what it is that has hurt you, or disliked or your worries and concerns of the others actions?
I have heard it said that a mother's love is both cruel and loving. Is it because the mother speaks the truth to you that may hurt beyond words while knowing that she means well by telling you? Hmm… food for thought.
I think I would like to approach all my friends and say, “Hey, would you like to begin a new side of our friendship by being 100 percent honest with each other? Regardless of what we say…even if it hurts? Making this a true friendship and building a strong foundation that allows us to know that we can speak our minds in complete love for each other unconditionally?” I think I would like that very much don’t you?
So many times we restrict ourselves that we bring on unhealthy reserves. What if by not speaking our true minds we cause our own illnesses? Some believe that this is true. Well, it is food for thought. For me, I think I am going to venture on the path of truth not only to myself but to those I love.
