StarsetStarset at Pub Rock Live in Scottsdale, AZ.
by Dave Schwartz

I’m sure that the Starset show at Pub Rock Live in Scottsdale, AZ was one of the cooler shows I’ve seen in the past 6 months.  The band refers to their performances as “demonstrations” and they truly are a visual spectacle.  Vocalist Dustin Bates, sporting an edgy bow tie, and the remaining band members dressed in space attire were augmented by the highly dynamic light show.  It all made for an amazing visual.

Starset opened their “demonstration” with “Into the Unknown” from their latest release “Vessels” and quickly followed with “Halo” and “Down with the Fallen” – both songs are singles from Starset’s debut, “Transmissions.”  The club was small and tightly packed and everyone was totally into the show.

StarsetStarset reserved their latest single, “Monster” for late in the set.  I wish I could’ve seen this show in a larger venue.  I think the visuals of the night would’ve had an even greater impact.  Keep your eyes open because Starset has already signed onto several festivals during 2017.  Be sure to watch their schedule.

Gemini Syndrome is direct support for a majority of the Starset tour.  They sounded great, playing songs from “Lux” as well as their latest release, “Momento Mori.”  Vocalist Aaron Nordstrom was in great voice.

These two bands are well paired and make for a great show.  Don’t miss this tour!
