The
Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian"
Walt Disney Records
By Naughty Mickie
Film soundtrack albums can be
a little hit and miss, including "The Chronicles
of Narnia - Prince Caspian." The original score,
composed by Harry Gregson-Williams, is
tremendous, but would be hard for a child to sit
through. This is how it is with most discs of
this ilk, so that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Instead of trying to play it
for your little Narnia fan at
one sitting, try just a couple cuts at a time.
Even better, play it as background during
another activity, such as coloring or a meal.
The lush orchestrations are
ideal for introducing your child to "adult"
music and you will enjoy the varied emotions
that the motions invoke. To break things up,
there are a few songs too with outstanding
performances by Regina Spektor, Oren Lavie,
Switchfoot and Hanne Hukkelberg. In fact,
Hukkelberg's tune, "Lucy," is a bonus not
included in the film.
But wait, there's more. By
inserting the "Narnia" disc into your computer
(with Internet access), you can see the official
movie trailer and check out a photo gallery.
That's pretty darn cool!
And if you're a "big" Narnia
fan, don't feel guilty about adding this CD to
your collection- you deserve it.
