Alien Weaponry – Coming to America “Tū”
By Dave Schwartz

Alien Weaponry is a young New Zealand band that recently completed their first-ever tour of America.  The band is remarkable in many ways – first of all they’re quite young with the eldest member being 18.  Secondly, as the American audience becomes more accustom to hearing music in a variety of languages, Alien Weaponry is offering something more exotic than usual by singing many of their songs in the Māori (te reo) language.  It’s remarkable how well the language fits their thrash/alternative metal musical style.

On June 1, 2018 Alien Weaponry released their album, “Tū,” which debuted at number five on the New Zealand album charts.  The album has spawned 6 videos and a significant buzz that reaches well beyond their homeland.  I caught up with brothers Lewis and Henry de Jong and Ethan Trembath backstage at the Marquee Theater and talked about their latest record as well as the tour.  Check out the video…
